BY TRACI: Technology in the classroom

Many years technology has advanced and become very powerful to classrooms and much more. There are many ways to use technology in the classsroom to make learning fun and get the children involved. One type of technologies that can be used is wiki, blog, and there are other types that allow you to communicate.

Good Use of Technology in Classroom

I think technology is important to have in the classroom, and it can be used in many different ways. A few things we've learned in EDMD3300 that I would like to incoorporate into my classroom are; podcast, webquest, photo story and windows movie maker. I think each of these would be fun and educational for students because they are different and creative and will encourage communication in my classroom.

Technology in the classroom

Over the years there have been many technological advances in the classroom. There are many ways to use technoogy with children. Technology can be used to make learning fun and interesting. One type of technology that can be helpful in schools is blogs, wiki spaces and other types of technology that allow students to join in woht discussions and share their thoughts. Another helpful tool is audacity & photo story where students can share their thoughts and feeling through voice communication and pictures. There are many different tools that can advance childrens learning and improve their learning experiment.

Technology in Classrooms

A good use of technology in a classroom setting would be one in which several different technologies are incorporated to enhance the students learning. Each technology used should be some what challenging but also skill level appropriate. The activity should engage the studentsand always promote learning of some sort. It is important for teachers to incorporate technology at an early age so that students are not only comfortbale with it when tey get olser but also so that they will be able to learn new technologies as they become available. Web Quests, Photostory, Powerpoint, online learning games, blogs, Wikis, Audacity, and others are great tools for incopreating technology into the classroom.

Favorite Foods

I love food! Some of my favorite things are barbque, chicken casserole, or italian! My favorite restuarant is Macroni Grill in Birmingham! I love getting their Chicken Fetticini Alfredo. I am really excited about Thanksgiving and Christmas coming up! My mom and grandmothers always cook yummy stuff!

Blogging a/b Videos

I enjoyed making and editing our video this week. I learned a lot about iMovie and about video cameras. Although, I didn't really like how much time it took us to do the assignment... I had fun!

After seeing all of our class videos, a few were kinda boring and others were funny and entertaining. I enjoyed the Rugrats one the best. I thought it was humorous, but it also held my attention well, so now I know how to make GAK. The other videos were very informative, but they were a little boring. I was having a hard time holding my attention there because I was losing interest.

I think it would be fun to use videos in my classroom. If I were teaching upper elementary school I think the students would enjoy learning how to make a short video in class with a small group or something. But I would keep this assignment in class, I wouldn't want to make parents responsible for this project because I want the students to learn and know, and if it were a at home assignment parents would do more work. Also, I might use short videos in my classroom for science experiements, or any other type of demonstration... especially if the video was funny, I think short videos would go over great!

Hometown

I come from a very small town called Grant, AL. To give you an idea of just how small it is we have one red light and one caution light. I like my little town because I know about everybody that lives there. My graduating class of 2005 only had 65 people in it. It is very close community were everybody knows everybody jut like the song. There is not realy a lot to do there but there are towns nearby that have lots of fun things to do. I really enjoy my little town and cant ever imagine living in a big city.

Inspiration is so Helpful!

I thought working with Inspiration was so helpful for future brainstorming. It helps keep your ideas together and organized and even looks kinda cool! In the future, I'd like to use Inspiration in my classroom when we are brainstorming about class wide stories and ideas we'll write together. I think Inspirations layout will be easy for children to understand!
Also, I am excited about making a video with my group members. I think it will be fun, and we will learn about Carmelization as we are conducting our experiment.

Video project

I found the discussion about the video project very interesting. We came up with a fun and interesting experiment that we are going to video tape. There are four members in our group, two of the members are going to carry out the experiement and the other members are going to tell the scientific information about the experiment. I think this will be a fun and helpful experience and will allow collaboration with my group members. This experience will also allow me to get use to using a video camera to record things which could also be helpful in my classroom in the future. I look forward to participating in this experiment and think it will be a fun learning experience. I could use this in my classroom in the future for a fun way for the children to learn about science or other subject areas. This type of collaborative project would also help the children build team and social skills that will be helpful later on in life. This could be my favorite project we have done so far in this class I think it will be lots of fun!!!

Video Project

The video project we are going to do is going to be alot of fun. We are going to make a video and share it with other groups in the class I feel as though this is a good project to do because we could use this project in our own classroom setting. It is on a science fair project on something we have to make and talk about. In the classroom when we talk about science or social studies the kids can get involved and do a video and other kids can participate and learn from it!

Video Science Project

I like what we learned today; I think it will help us to create creative video projects for our future class. Our groups discussion went very well. We found a great cooking experiment idea we want to use and were able to brainstorm many ideas for our video project. We have basically everything we are going do for our video worked out we just need to iron out a few of the details. Through this assingment I can see how a teacher creating an at home instructional video such as this would create a better and more engaging learning environment. Without actually leaving the classroom the students can be transported to a whole new learning environment through video. I know when I was in school, elementary all the way through highschool, the science experiments that realted to everyday life were the ones that stuck with me the most. Creating projects like this for young students to participate in or even watch will be a great way to get them intrestead in science at an early age and show them that science is not just a bunch of boring facts. Also, for this experiment it helps with the saftey factr since we are dealing with high heat.

Copyright Assignment - Jessica

1.The most surprising thing I learned about copyright laws is the restrictions using multimedia. I didn't realize power point photos and things such as that had to be evaluated before you used them.
2. When I use copyrighted materials in my classroom I want to first try to look up the laws and make sure everything I am doing is legal, but also I will not hesitate to call a professional that knows more about them than I do.

Copyright Assingment (Katie)

One of the most suprising facts about copyright to me was that govenment documents such as laws, ammendments, etc can not be copyrighted. The most suprisng part was that speeches made by government officals can not be copyrighted either. I did not know that documents such as these go straight into pulic domain for everyone, including educatiors, to access and use.
Also, if I came across some copyrighted material that I wanted to use for educational purposes in my classroom to further the educational experience of my students I would need to seek approval from either the creator, author, or holder of the copyright. This could be attained several ways. I could either get permenat permission to use all or a part of the work or just one time permission. Regardless of what type of permission I get it would always be a good idea to attain, and keep, a copy in writting just incase any question of the legality of using the copyrighted material ever came up. Even if I attained the permission over the phone I would ask the person or persons giving the permission to send a copy in writting.

Holidays

My favorite holiday is of course Christmas when all the family and friends are all together sharing great memories. Everyone receiving gifts and eating wonderful food! Family from all around come together to share such a great time. My birthday is also in the month of December its very close to Christmas so thats always fun I get double gifts. Christmas goes by super fast I hate it when its all over because its such a great time of the year!

Hobbies

I have several different hobbies I love to go shopping and eat out with friends. I love just being with family and friends. I hate be alone that is very boring. I love to go to the beach and swim and get a sun tan. I do not live for from the beach at all. I use to be a cheerelader in high school but now that Im in college and I do not have time for that anymore but that was always very fun. I love to watch children and play with them. I work at a daycare and I love it they are so very cute!

Hobbies

I have several diffrent hobbies that I love to particiapte in. Some of the ones I do most frequently are hanging with friends, going to and watching sporting events, scrapbooking, painting, and doing other creative projects. I also like going to theatrical productions from musicals to the ballet. I also love to cook and bake. Recently I have taken up the hobby of cake decorating as well. I have a large variety of hobbies but most of the time enjoy them all equally.

Holidays

In America, we have many holidays and for most of them we get together with our family and eat a lot of good food! Some of my favorite holiday's are Thanksgiving, Christmas and my Birthday; and out of those my favorite is Christmas. Christmas is the holiday that share to celebrate the birth of Jesus Christ. He is the Messiah and lived without sinning. We worship him all year long, but at Christmas time especially. Also, at Christmas time Santa Claus comes. This is a fun exciting thing parents and kids are invovled in. Santa Clause comes on Christmas Eve while everyone is asleep. When everyone wakes up he's left lots of presents for the family to open. I like Christmas the most because I love to buy presents for my close family and freinds and I enjoy watching them open them!
